Snowfall

I feel like it was just a couple of days ago that I was posting pictures of the beautiful autumn colors and here I am already posting pictures of our first snow fall from a couple of weeks ago.  It was still warm enough that the kids could form the snow into snowballs for snowmen which won't happen again until we get snow in the Spring.  Lillian was excited to put on her snow gear and join her brother and sister outside.  She didn't last nearly as long as they did, however.

 

 

 

It didn't take long for us to get a whole lot more snow and for our yard to look like this.  The weather has been warm enough the last couple of days that the kids could spend some time outside sledding down our little hill and having snow fights.

 

 

 

With temperatures dropping into the -30s with the wind chill last week Walker and Lillian were desperate for things to do.  One morning they had me make them a little fort out of her crib and they spent a long time playing and reading books in it.

 

 

 

 

The Tooth

Emma was a brave little trooper today while we went to the dentist and she had an abscess tooth removed.  I promised her a milkshake because her mouth was too numb to chew anything.  That helped lift her spirits and she felt really good until the local anaesthetic wore off and the gaping hole in her mouth started to ache.

 

 

The other kids were a little too excited about Emma's traumatizing afternoon because it meant that they got milkshakes too.

 

 

Potty Training Triumph

I had to take a minute to share our success of the week!!  For the past couple of days I've been potty training Lillian or rather she's been potty training herself.  She's been wearing panties for the last two days and we have only had one accident.  I can't believe how easy it's been this time around and that we might actually be diaper free for the first time in 7 years!!!  Hallelujah!!

October Wrap Up

I've fallen off of the blogging wagon the last few weeks and am going to try to climb back on and be more consistent.  Our days have seemed so full lately that come the end of the night I hardly have the energy to form one coherent thought much less enough to fill a blog post.  So here's a wrap up of October's major events including some birthday and Halloween excitement.

 

Emma celebrated her 7th birthday with a family party and then a friend party a couple of weeks later.  I'm not sure why I don't have more pictures of her family party, they're probably on one of our phones somewhere. 

She had a makeover party with her cousins and friends from school and church.  With lots of help from Auntie Haley and Kyla and Mikaela we painted all of the girls' fingernails and toenails and their faces.  The girls had lots of fun.

Emma opted for a cherry chip cake with maraschino cherries that she shaped in a heart all by herself.

As much as I love that they have so much fun with these parties I'm always so grateful when they're finally over.

 

Kelsey and the boys came to visit a couple of weeks ago and we had so much fun with them.  Baby Simon has grown so much since the last time we saw him and is one of the chubbiest most squeezable babies I have ever seen.

 

At Walker's request we spent every free moment that we had with them so that he could play with Eli.

By the end of their trip Walker and Eli were best buddies and we were heart broken to see them go.

Lillian had her costume on nearly all day and this was the only picture I got of her holding still.

 

 

We spent the night with our usual trick or treating buddies.  Merida (Kendall) and her family.

Lillian had us all dying of laughter watching her try to make her way up the steps of each house with her floppy Daisy head on.  She didn't seem to mind too much though.  Her heavy bag of candy was worth all of the work.

Lillian got into the candy very first thing the next morning and promptly shoved ten pounds of it down her sleeper (or pockets as she calls it).  She then spent all morning trying to fish it all out of the legs of the sleeper.

 

Well it's been a blur of an October and hopefully I do a better job of keeping up this month.

Yellow Leaf Road

Fall has arrived in our neck of the woods over the last couple of weeks.  As much as I love the summer with its swimming pools and shorts and sunscreen, I love Love LOVE fall.  I love watching the leaves change color and fall from the trees and hearing my kids crunch through them when we go for walks.  I love the way the cool air turns their cheeks pink and makes their hair smell.  It seems like there are only a couple of short weeks that we can enjoy the transition before temperatures turn too frigid and snow starts to fly so I try to take advantage of the warmer weather while I can and get the kids out to enjoy the fall colors.  Yesterday was one of those days.  I took Walker and Lillian to the dog park and let them explore the trails and paths to their hearts' content.  They followed the yellow trail of leaves around and around until it was time for Walker to go to playschool.
