And because I needed a little comic relief tonight...

Finally Friday
Some weeks I feel like super mom, flying through tasks and errands effortlessly and managing my children with ease while at the same time being an attentive wife and even finding a few quiet minutes everyday to study the scriptures and say my prayers. Other weeks it is all I can do, once the week is finally over, the kids are finally asleep, and the endless tasks have finally subsided, to not just curl up and cry from sheer relief. Unfortuntely this week was one of the latter. Even after 5 years of motherhood I occassionally find myself completely overwhelmed by the demands that come with it. At the end of these weeks I look around my home with toys piled high and dishes on every surface in the kitchen and I think "what have I been doing?" It is also at the end of these weeks that I go into the rooms of our sweet children with their perfect, peaceful faces and am so grateful that they are mine and that they are asleep.

"Official" Hair Day
Today was "official" hair day at Emma's school. I was very perplexed as to how I was going to make her hair "official" until she told me I needed to draw a mustache on her face. Of course!! FACIAL hair day. I love that she is still young enough to say words wrong. Naturally Emma couldn't be the only one with a mustache, Walker needed one too. We had to go to the mall and to the grocery store and neither of them cared that they had an eyeliner mustache painted on their face. It makes me sad that one day they will be self conscious about those sorts of things.
I have added a new guilty pleasure to my night time ritual...Pinterest!! It goes very nicely with my homemade mint aero blizzards. So occassionally I will be posting things that I find. Last night I found this...
It makes me so happy to think of the countless hours we spent as kids pretending that the four of us were the boxcar children. Dragging "supplies" out of the cupboards and pantry and imagining new adventures and dangers we had to face. I hope that our kids, even with all the media available to entertain them, will learn and love to use their imaginations the way that we did when we were young.

Entering the Blog-o-sphere
Allan has been encouraging me for months to start a blog. Initially I considered it in order to keep family members who are far away updated. As I've thought about it though I think my motivation now is to keep it as a kind of online journal. There are countless times throughout the week that I feel the walls closing in on me as I see my babies grow bigger and more independent and I worry that I will forget how Emma sounds when she says this or how Walker looks when he does that or how it feels to hold Lillian in the early hours of the morning when the house is dark and quiet. I keep a journal and scrapbook for each of the kids but one day those will be theirs and I will have neglected my own record keeping. This will be my way of recording the little things that I don't want to forget, the things that inspire me to try harder, and random tidbits just because I want them on here. I hope those of you who read this enjoy following along with the adventures of our little family.
So with that said, here I go...
Anyone who knows Walker knows that he was not too thrilled with our little July addition. From the day that she was born he wanted nothing to do with her and for the first 6 weeks of her life he wouldn't call her anything but "Mommy Reay" and when asked to put her soother in her mouth would gag like it was the grossest thing he'd ever done. That is why I was so thrilled to see this little scene unfold before me this morning.
I was beginning to worry that I would never see the day that he would want to be so close to her much less play with her!!
